We are seeking two Postdoctoral Research Fellows to work with Dr Mihaela Mihai on an ERC-funded project entitled ‘Illuminating the “Grey Zone”: Addressing Complex Complicity in Human Rights Violations.’ Situated at the frontier between political science, political theory, history, literature and cinema, this project seeks to shift the focus of debates in Transitional Justice by focusing on the grey zone of collaborators, bystanders and indirect beneficiaries of injustice. You will have experience of conducting high quality academic research in a field relevant to this project, and should be willing to engage with a variety of literatures beyond the narrow confines of your own research field.

These two posts are both full-time and fixed-term for 48 months. The posts are available from 1st January 2016. Closing Date: Thursday 20th August 2015 at 5pm (GMT)

Visiting Assistant Professor of American Politics- One Year Replacement
Department of Political Science, Hobart and William Smith Colleges
The Department of Political Science invites applications for a one-year, full-time visiting position in American Politics in the field of Law and Politics at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall of 2013; Ph.D. is preferred, advanced ABD will be considered. Applications from those with a specialization in some aspect of Civil Liberties, Civil Rights, or Labor, are particularly encouraged. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a mixture of the following subjects: Public Law, Law and Society, Introduction to American Politics, and/or Political Theory. The successful candidate's work will be informed by theoretical and historical perspectives on questions important to the understanding of politics in the United States.
The Department values intellectual diversity and supports a wide range of critical and theoretical approaches that help bring people together across subfields as they address questions of power. The Department also supports interdisciplinarity in teaching and research in keeping with the Colleges' longstanding emphasis on liberal arts education. We encourage the creative development of new questions, lines of inquiry, and vectors of critique.

Job Posting: Rhetoric and Public Culture, Indiana University, Bloomington


Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Public Culture Indiana University, Bloomington

Indiana University, Department of Communication and Culture, seeks an Assistant Professor in Rhetoric and Public Culture focused on the rhetorical critique of law and/or public policy with an orientation toward civic engagement.  This is a tenure-track position, which requires a strong research agenda, a commitment to excellence in teaching, and a PhD completed prior to August 2012.

In addition to teaching graduate courses in rhetoric and public culture that reflect core requirements and more specialized areas of expertise in law and/or public policy, the person filling this position is expected to teach undergraduate courses in areas such as freedom of speech, argumentation and advocacy, and legal communication.  Ideally, this person would help to mentor undergraduate students aiming for careers in law, government, and non-government organizations as well as enhance linkages with the interdisciplinary Political and Civic Engagement Program (PACE), the School of Public and Environmental Affairs (which maintains a campus debate program), and the Poynter Center for the Study of Ethics and American Institutions.
