Robert W. Sweet has been an ice skater for 20 years. That's not as long as he has been a federal judge, but we're not counting. We're just admiring his willingness to acquire additional expertise, especially in such an unusual area such as this one. According to Judge Sweet, there are analogies between judging and skating, including "pay[ing] attention to detail." He opines that "It doesn’t make me a better judge or anything
like that, but working hard at anything makes you better.”
Judge Sweet is definitely a wonderful addition to our category of lawyers who have "figured" out what else you can do with a law degree. More here from the New York Times.
