The Secret Barrister (@BarristerSecret, "wears a black cape and fights crime") analyzes the law in Bananarama's "Love in the First Degree" and it is something to behold. The Tweeter offers up the niceties of criminal liability, the roles of judge and jury, and some points of sentencing. I would point out that, however, that 1) the law that applies would seem to be U.S. law, and 2) it all takes place in a dream (or nightmare)--"Last night I was dreaming/I was locked in a prison cell..."
